Information that should be included in a lesson plan includes descriptive information about the target audience; specific goals, objectives, and generalizations; prerequisites for the course; duration of the session/program; teaching materials and resources required for the program; description of the lesson; lesson procedures; and the learning experiences that will be used during the program. It is important for nutrition counselors to create a lesson plan before implementing a nutrition education intervention to ensure they are using all the teaching techniques and necessary concepts needed to implement the intervention effectively. Additionally, a detailed lesson plan would allow instructors at other sites to implement the program in the same manner.
