Why might fathers spend less time with their children than mothers?

Fathers may face difficulties balancing work and spending time with children.They may have long commutes and demanding employers.Also,couples may still hold the stereotype that mothers are more nurturing than fathers.If fathers back off from childcare,the mother does more and develops more of a bond with the child,perpetuating the stereotype and further excluding the father from child care.The quality of the partners' relationship affects parenting in that when the relationship is strong,fathers are more likely to be involved in caring for their children.
