The pursuit of fame is the pursuit of something of moral value.

Moral values are those that benefit you and also are worthwhile for their own sake. Fame may benefit you, but may also harm you. It is not something that should be sought for its own sake. Rather, it is valuable only as a means to some further goal. In other words, when it is of value, it is only of non-moral value.
