How can teachers create a caring classroom environment for children with chronic illnesses?

Establish routines for both the child and classmates in support of the child.Give guidance to the other students in the classroom about how to be supportive of their classmate who is ill.Send get-well cards to the child if/when he or she is housebound or attending school intermittently.Discuss the ill child's condition and ways to talk with the classmate in a way that is not insensitive or embarrassing.Find mentors or friends for the child in other students who have had long-term illnesses.
