Females are more likely than males to be affected by X-linked disorders.

X-linked recessive disorders are more common in males because they have only one X chromosome, so a single recessive gene on that X chromosome will cause the disease. Females have two X chromosomes, so a mutation must be present on both copies of the chromosome to express the disorder, making these conditions less common in females.
