Developing an accurate bibliography and citing your sources is an important aspect of your academic life if you want to be taken seriously by peers and colleagues.It is important to be sure you are citing sources correctly and using credible sources for your research, especially when much of the information you will find is online.You want to safeguard the integrity of your paper.Based on what you have learned in the chapter about using credible sources, citing sources, fair use and writing citations, discuss 10 strategies or questions you will ask yourself to avoid plagiarism and/or inaccurate citations.

1. Have I clearly identified the sources I used in my research?
2. Did I use a variety of credible sources, such as scholarly articles, books, and reputable websites?
3. Have I properly cited all direct quotes, paraphrased information, and ideas that are not my own?
4. Did I follow the specific citation style required by my instructor or academic institution (e.g. APA, MLA, Chicago)?
5. Have I included in-text citations for all information that is not common knowledge?
6. Did I provide a comprehensive bibliography or reference list at the end of my paper?
7. Have I used quotation marks or block quotes for direct quotes and properly attributed them to the original author?
8. Did I use proper citation formatting for online sources, including URLs and access dates?
9. Have I avoided using too much of the original wording from my sources, and instead focused on summarizing and synthesizing the information in my own words?
