Proximity: Researchers found that the more often students come into contact with one another,the more likely they are to become friends (also relates to familiarity and the mere exposure effect).
Similarity: people with similar attitudes,values,interests,backgrounds,personalities,and levels of attractiveness tend to like one another more than people who are dissimilar.
Personal characteristics: we like people who have admirable personality characteristics.
Physical attractiveness: people value physical attractiveness (e.g.,facial symmetry) in forming relationships.
