(1) The first way is observation,whereby children watch what men and women do and how they are treated.An example might be learning that men watch sports by seeing one's male relatives frequently watching sports.(2) A second way is modeling,whereby other people's behavior is imitated.An example might be boys learning to use violence as social control by watching violent male heroes on television.(3) A third way is operant conditioning,whereby the child's own behavior is reinforced or punished.An example might be a girl receiving praise for helping her mother with housework but a boy receiving scorn for the same behavior.
