For example,based solely on income,a drug dealer and a lawyer (both of whom live in nice houses and drive Porsches)are comparable.But the drug dealer,while financially successful,is involved in illegal activities,does not have what the larger society considers to be a prestigious career,and may not have completed high school.Conversely,the lawyer has a prestigious occupation and an extensive post-secondary education.As you can see,looking at one SES indicator in isolation may leave out a great deal.
