b.Grassroots online activist organizations: Traditional interest groups are expensive to organize,rely on professional advocates and communicate through direct mail.They are also slow to change.By contrast,grassroots online activist organizations are inexpensive to organize and are quick to adapt.Grassroots online activist organizations are less expensive to organize because they have a streamlined staff structure with fewer staff who often work from virtual offices.This less expensive staff structure engages in different work routines that prioritize communication with members through email,Twitter,and other digital platforms.These grassroots online activist organizations have redefined membership and fund-raising practices via innovative methods for communicating with their members,measuring the opinions of their members,and moving their members into action,in terms of both influencing public opinion and working on behalf of the organization.
