Achieved statuses are those that are earned or chosen by an individual through their actions, choices, and accomplishments. These statuses are typically based on merit and effort, and can change over time. Examples of achieved statuses include being a college graduate, a professional athlete, or a successful business owner.

On the other hand, ascribed statuses are those that are assigned to an individual at birth or based on their family background, race, gender, or other characteristics that are beyond their control. These statuses are often seen as fixed and unchangeable. Examples of ascribed statuses include being born into a wealthy family, being a member of a certain ethnic group, or being a male or female.

In my own life, an example of an achieved status would be earning a college degree. I worked hard, studied diligently, and ultimately earned my degree through my own efforts. This status is something that I actively pursued and achieved through my own actions.

An example of an ascribed status in my life would be my gender. I was born female, and this is a status that was assigned to me at birth and is not something that I have control over. It is an inherent part of my identity that I did not choose or earn through any specific actions or accomplishments.
